A good time for inventors. A bad time for wizards
There seems to be a general consensus that the main reason for the downfall of the banking system is greed of top management. How wrong. How shortsighted. This seems to me as if the cause for the Second and First World War was government. No. There is a large group of sympathizers: mass media, investors, people that expected against all odds that they would conquer the world in a bloodless coup. They wanted an easy prey without effort and work. And they used their banks as armed forces. The banks willingly participated in this conspiracy against common sense and rejoiced in the excitement of invasion. Now excitement has turned into contemplation and sorrow. People have lost confidence.
This doubt is shaping the Zeitgeist. Intuitively the public is aware that this crisis is not the work of a small clique of traitors as presented in the media with their easy solutions. It is the result of a general exuberance of our society, enhanced by media with their daily reports that helped to mislead the public. It is the result of greedy investors and also of credit hungry consumers.
The general feeling today is a sense of being caught in-between, of being on a life’s journey, in the middle of a storm that seems without end. And worse, the destination is out of sight, in a cloud of fog. People start doubting. Does the destination really exist? Whom can one trust? Certainly not media. Media has failed to be a force of orientation and neutral information.
The good thing; in a time like this, people start exploring new terrain. It is a time to try out new ideas, as the old one have failed. This is a great time for inventors and a bad time for wizards.
